Unfold
Biography
It is in Switzerland Romande (Yverdon very exactly) that Unfold formed in 1995. It is only two years before the release of a first maxi, Five , a medium chosen to approach the concert halls. Despite the difference in style, Unfold and their friends at Shovel joined forces to jointly release a Split in 1998. The band experienced a first line-up change some time later, then joined Uppsala (Sweden) and producer Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah , In Flames ...) to put Pure in the box in 2000, first album evolving in a raw metalcore style and dotted with Neo Metal. He then allowed Unfold to encircle the French scenes, also encountering a great success. But the line-up is again chamboulé to finally reach its definitive form. It revolves around Danek (chant), Elie (guitar), Laurent (battery), Alain (guitar), and finally Vincent (bass, Forceed defector). In 2001 a tour followed with their recent companions from Split, the Swedish Seethings. At the same time, Danek founded Rockin's Hardcore Houston Swing Engine with a few Shovel survivors, and eventually joined the Unfold in order to get their second and final opus. With the desire to deepen its oppressive side, Unfold chose the pair of Swedish producers Pelle Henricsson and Magnus Lindberg (member of Cult Of Luna), responsible among other things for the burns of Denied and known for his love of raw and analog sound. The result is that Aeon Aony was born in the first quarter of 2003. But the crisis is deep within the quintet, and tours gnaw motivations. The final point of this adventure is marked by a last concert given in December 2004 with Impure Wilhelmina . The ex-Unfold nevertheless manage to fall on their feet in a very nice way, since Danek devotes himself full time to Houston Swing Engine. For their part, Laurent, Elie and Alain will found Vancouver alongside Michaël ( Impure Wilhelmina ) and Bastien ( Iscariot ). They will also release their first discographic effect on Laurent's own label: Division Records . In 2011, against all expectations, Unfold returned to the forefront with his new play, Cosmogon, which was released by Division Records.
