Biography

Unsilence formed in Bolton (UK) in 1993 around Kieron Tuohey (guitar), Mick Grundy (bass), Andrew Hodson (sing), Rick Harding (guitar) and Ric Barnes (battery). A first demo entitled Shadows Cast in Stone was born less than six months later, on which the band played a doom death then very popular in British underground ( Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Anathema, etc.). After a few concerts and other changes of line-up, the band was offered a deal by the Italian label Full Moon Rising for the release of an EP. Unfortunately, the disappearance of the label will force the band to review its plans and only release a demo, called logically Unfinished Chapter . It is believed that luck finally turns in 1997 with a new offer from Italy, from Seven Art Music, which signs the British for an album. Lack of pot again, since not only does the band accumulate the galleys during the recording of the album, but in addition, it must cash the disappearance of its label once the album is finished, for the second time. As a result, Choirs of Memory still could not see daylight. This new blow did not mark the end of the group, which recorded an EP in 1999, which he named Transfiguration. For the anecdote, the artwork was the one planned for Choirs of Memory. This self-produced EP marks a turning point since it shows the formation leaving the doom death for the traditional doom. Transfiguration will be followed by a new EP, A Walk Through Oceans, which will be released in 2002 at Golden Lake Productions. But again, the bad luck hits the group, which finds itself paralyzed by many line-up changes for several years. Apart from a few concerts here and there, it will take until 2006 for the band to release a demo, Echoes Awaken, and then 2008 for the band to finally decide to record an album. This hit, not much comes to disrupt the process, and Under a Torn Sky finally released in 2009 at PsycheDOOMelic Records. Since then, between two line-up changes, Unsilence has participated in Dutch Doom Days 2010. Line-up : James Kilmurray (guitar / singing) Kieron Tuohey (guitar) David Elliot (bass) Graham Bewley (bass)
