Usnea

Usnea is a group of Funeral Doom Metal that formed in Portland, USA in 2011 around Joel Banishing (Basse), Zeke Optimo Rogers (Battery), Johnny Lovingood (Guitare) and Justin Cory (Guitare / Chant). They soon released an eponymous album in 2013 via Orca Wolf Records, a split with Ruins, and then became noticed by Relapse Records, which released the excellent Random Cosmic Violence in 2014 that was featured in the Doom Metal scene. Usnea made some date in 2015 in the United States and came to Europe in 2016 for a Roadburn , a date in Brussels and Nantes. The band started to make a name for itself and continued with Portals Into Futility still signed by Relapse Records and then returned to France for two dates in Nantes and Paris as well as Brussels and the Up In The Smoke in Switzerland. Usnea makes a few dates scattered in the United States in 2018 and 2019 and then seems to be back in hibernation for several years. However, the Portland band returned in 2023 with Bathed In Light now signed by Translation Loss Records.
