Biography
Vertex is a progressive and mathcore metal band from Lyon, formed in 2018. Their music, described as "organic without compromise", is distinguished by an experimental approach that moves away from traditional genre codes. The band's members come from a variety of groups such as Bottle Next (hard folk), ÇA (math rock), Shelter (radio fusion) and NP Snow (techno), bringing a wealth of influences to their sound. Current members Maxence Griffond – guitar (since 2018) Pierre Retteen – drums (since 2018) Jean-Christophe Mastan – singing (since 2020) Michael Alberto Merone – bass (since 2022) The band experienced changes in line-up, including Philippe Nore singing until 2020 and Quentin Mascarino bass until 2022. Scalable Discography (EP, 2019) The Purest Light (album, 2025) Their first EP, Scalable , laid the foundation for their math metal style. Their album The Purest Light , released in 2025, was hailed for its rhythmic complexity and intensity. Style and influences Vertex draws inspiration from bands such as Meshuggah, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Fear Factory. Their music is characterized by complex structures, abrupt tempo changes and gross intensity, providing an immersive and striking sound experience.
