Biography

Virgin Black formed in 1995 in Adelaide around a line-up with variable geometry, which ended up stabilizing around Rowan London (song, keyboards, piano), Samantha Escarbe (guitar, cello), Grayh (bass, song) and Luke Faz (drums). Their aim is to create a unique music that they themselves define as "Doom Opera", inspired as much by 19th century classical music as Doom Death, progressive Metal, Gothic current and, more than anything else, religion, a source of unalterable inspiration from the formation since its beginnings, a subject that it constantly approaches with some ambiguity. She will still refuse to be considered a White Metal group. After a demo and an EP, Virgin Black is ready to deliver the first fruit of her experiments: Dark Romantic released in 2001 at The End Records and Massacre Records, and immediately received the most dithyrambic praises. We are talking everywhere about a surprisingly classy and sophisticated training, whose music, of rare freshness and depth, brings everyone together throughout the world. Elegant...and Dying was born two years later, for an equally incredible result, but which disappointed fans of the first hour. It was in 2007 that the group returned with Requiem – Mezzo Forte , the second act of a trilogy entitled Requiem , which will be followed by Requiem – Pianissimo and Requiem – Fortissimo .
