Biography

Wardruna was born in 2002 as a side-project of Kvitrafn, then drummer of Gorgoroth. This is not a metal, but a musical return to a paganism close to nature. Therefore, the band's sound is based on traditional hand-made Nordic instruments and natural noises, to create atmospheric and folk music. Three voices are mixed on the tracks: Lindy Fay Hella, Kvitrafn and Gaahl. Wardruna's first project is a trilogy: Runaljod takes over the runic alphabet. Each album features eight of Futhark's runes, without following any particular order. The meaning of each rune is staged by the music of the track(s) devoted to it. Over time, and as the three strands of his trilogy were released, Wardruna became one of the most interesting groups in recent years. In 2016 released the last part entitled Runaljod-Ragnarok .
