Biography

Warning is mainly the project of a man, Patrick Walker (Guitare / Chant), also cousin of Richard Walker, frontman of Solstice and head of the label The Miskatonic Foundation. He decided in 1994 to form a Doom Metal band with a friend, Stuart Springthorpe (Batterie). Shortly afterwards, John Sellings (Basse) was recruited, and the training was ready to record his first songs. Two demos were created between 1996 and 1997, and they attracted the attention of Rise Above Records, which offered a deal for Harlow's training. However, the tricky case is that, according to legend, the label tried to force the band to adopt a more Stoner sound to satisfy its clientele. It was after a tour with Solstice that Warning finally decided to join the very recent label The Miskatonic Foundation. At the end of 1997 John was replaced by Wayne Taylor and Marcus Hatfield in 1998 and it took them two years to prepare for an album, which was done in 1999 with the release of The Strength To Dream. The success of this first opus is such that within the Doom scene, many of the ones to propel Warning and its traditional Doom Metal to the slowness and fragility characteristic among the best groups of the genre. It should be noted that the artwork was directed by Sephen O However, Walker did not take advantage of this sudden popularity and in 2001, after a tour with Jack Frost, decided to stop the adventure and focus on another of his passions: theatre. Nevertheless, he finally decided to wake Warning a few years later. He brought together his former companions, Marcus Hatfield on bass and Stuart Springthorpe on drums and then the training took part in the Doom Shall Rise in 2005. Following the recording of a second opus, entitled Watching From A Distance. The release of the album the following year, much more mastered than its predecessor, finished making Warning one of the major bands of the modern Doom Metal. Christian Leitch replaced Stuart at the drums in 2008, but unfortunately, after a few concerts, Walker announced in early 2009 the final split of his formation, feeling the need to move on. Two incredible albums, a premature split, a very strong communication label... it didn't take more to make Warning a cult band. Since then, Patrick and Christian have founded 40 Watt Sun, in line with Warning's tragic Doom Metal. It is finally against all expectations that the man reacts Warning in 2016 to play Watching From A Distance in a few festivals. Christian Leitch who had made a brief appearance in the band and member of 40 Watt Sun returns to the drums, as well as Marcus Hatfield on bass and Wayne Taylor, short bassist between 1997 and 1998 is now second guitarist. Live Watching From A Distance at the Roadburn recorded in 2017 was released live in 2021 by Cappio Records.
