Warzone
Biography
Raymond "Raybeez" Barbieri J-Sin - guitar Todd "The Kid" - bass Vinny Value - drums
A reference group for the hardcore New York, Warzone was born in 1987 at the instigation of Raymond "Raybeez" Barbieri, after a supersonic pige as a drummer of Agnostic Front. Paul (guitar), Crazy "Jay" Skin (guitar), John "Omen" and Lukie Luke (battery) complete the band. The band recorded its first ep Lower East Side Crew the same year, followed a year later by the first album, the now mythical Don't Forget the Struggle, Don't Forget the Streets. Training in the unitary approach, however, Warzone carries a very ambiguous identity. His shows bring together skinheads from both sides, keupons of all ages and straight-edge kids, mixing population sometimes causing some friction. To such an extent that, in order to avoid violence, Raybeez is often forced to sing among the public. After the release of Warzone in 1990, the New York band felt the need to blow. The cut will last six years. Warzone resurfaced in 1996 when The Sound of Revolution was released at Victory Records. For the occasion, Raybeez renewed the executives, replacing his former companions with J-Sin (guitar), Todd "The Kid" (bass) and Vinny Value (battery). Warzone recorded Fight For the Justice a year later, but Raybeez died before it was finalized. In tribute the remaining members still decide to take him out as it is. With the disappearance of Raymond "Raybeez" Barbieri, the hardcore new Yorkaise scene lost one of its inescapable characters. An epitaph at the front of the CBGB's is dedicated to him. In addition, all albums released at Victory the year after his death were automatically dedicated to his memory and part of the profits collected, donated to youth welfare associations.
