Originally from Austria, the trio claims to be as diverse as Iggy Pop, The Cure and Joy Division. Borrowing elements from both post hardcore and new wave scenes, Rainer Maria and her peers are noticed after a demo was broadcast on a national radio. The group signed with Defiance in 2003 without a bassist; Wedekind published his first album, The End Of My Heartbeat, in June of the same year. Three years later their second effort appears, Opiates! ,via Acute / Edel .
