Biography

Rivers Cuomo: Song/Guitare Brian Bell: Guitarist/Chant Scott Shriner: Bass/Chant Patrick Wilson: Battery
Weezer took shape in Los Angeles early '92, and after 16 months, after a few shows and other demos, the Californians were signed at DGR Records (Geffen). The latter moved to New York to record their first record, headed by producer Ric Ocasek (Cars Frame ). Jason Cropper, as a bassist, left the band during production to follow his wife's first pregnancy. He was then replaced by Brian Bell ( Carnival Art).
May '94 sees the release of the Blue Album which will make an immediate hit, notably with titles such as "Buddy Holly", "Say It Ain't So", or "My Name Is Jonas". After winning some awards (MTV Awards), shot across the U.S. and the world, Weezer's peers decided to try something else: Rivers continued his studies at Harvard, Matt and Patrick worked on The Rentals, and Brain resumed his duties at The Space Twins.
Then, from the winter '95 to the summer '96, the quartet launched on their second entirely self-produced opus: Pinkerton. The latter, published in September, will have the promo he deserves with the release of 3 singles: "El Scorcho", "The Good Life", and "Pink Triangle". Gold disc, Pinkerton keeps selling. Matt Sharp decided to leave the band, in a very good time, in order to continue the adventure The Rentals, and was replaced by Mikey Welsh ( Juliana Hatfield). From '98, Mikey and Rivers started working together, for their part, and joined Brian and Patrick for one-off rehearsals the following spring. Each one goes to his occupations for a few years, Brian produces some albums with The Space Twins, while Patrick and Mikey tour with The Special Goodness.
Spring 2000: Weezer never stopped their activities, continuing their rehearsals, or turning under a pseudonym, finally making an appearance on the stage of the Warped Tour. On this occasion, the public responds present, and forces Weezer to deepen these activities. Back in Los Angeles, they decided to record their third album, Le Vert , again under Ric Ocasek. The combo re-employs for a 2001 tour that will be marked, mid-summer, by Mikey's departure, replaced by Scott Shriner ( Broken ).
After a short break, Rivers and his colleagues attacked their 4th long-duration album, Maladroit , distributed in May 2002 to Geffen as usual. Sign of a significant impact, Weezer is the subject of Tribute Albums where bands like Mock Orange , The Ataris , Dashboard Confessional , Grade , Glasseater and other Further Seems Forever pay tribute to them. After the tour, we are at the dawn of May 2005 (!) which sees the launch of their 5° opus: Make Believe , or Black Album to believe the cover. Of course, the concerts remain current and France will host these Californians on June 8 at the Olympia. In 2008, Weezer returned with his Red Album , a real box in the USA.
