Biography

While Heaven Wept is a band by Epic Doom Metal founded in 1989 in the United States around guitarist/clavierist/singer and principal composer Tom Phillips (ex- Solstice, ex- Twisted Tower Dire). A first EP, Lovesongs Of The Forsaken , appeared in 1995, followed in 1998 by the album Sorrow Of The Angels , both very focused Doom. Starting with Of Empires Forlorn (2003), combo music is enriched by progressive and neoclassical influences and is more successful. It takes until 2009 to see the release of Vast Oceans Lachrymose at Cruz Del Sur Music. WHW then signed on the Nuclear Blast Records label for Fear Of Infinity (2011) and Suspended At Aphelion (2014). Tom Phillips announces the band's end in May 2017, considering that his obsession with music has become harmful to his personal and family life. However, a temporary reformation takes place in 2018 in order to offer the public a final tour but also to complete compositions started in recent years and thus put a definitive end to the adventure.
