Whitechapel
Biography
The name Whitechapel refers to the famous London neighborhood where Jack the Ripper committed a series of bloody crimes against prostitutes. Formed in February 2006 by Phil Bozeman (Chant), Gabe Crisp (Basse), Derek Martin (Battery) and his three guitarists (Brandon Cagle, Ben Savage and Alex Wade), Whitechapel released two demos in the first year playing a brutal Deathcore inspired by Brutal Death Metal bands like Devourment, Impaled or Aborted. Everything goes very quickly for the band that signs with Siege Of Amida Records and Candlelight Records for the distribution of their first album: The Somatic Defilement in 2007. Meanwhile, Zach Householder and Kevin Lane are the newcomers to the band in the guitarist and drummer positions. At the end of 2007, the Americans signed with Metal Blade Records for their second album, This Is Exile, which will see the band's fame grow. Whitechapel shoots with Impending Doom, Through The Eyes Of The Dead, then more and more famous bands like Parkway Drive, Unarth, Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth or The Black Dahlia Murder. Their third effort, A New Era Of Corruption, appears in summer 2010. In 2011, following the departure of Kevin Lane, Benjamain Harclerode became the drummer. Follow two demos that redefine the band's identity and give the album the eponymous Whitechapel . This redefinition of identity will lead to the abandonment of their brutal death root and gradually evolve through Our Endless War in 2014 and Mark of the Blade in 2016 towards a more progressive and melodic style.
