Wizard

Wizard is a German band from Heavy / Power Metal founded in 1989 by drummer Sören van Heek. He was surrounded by guitarists Michael Maaß and Sascha Visser, singer Sven D'Anna and bassist Volker Leson. They have recorded the Legion Of Doom demo since 1991, but it takes a few more years for the projects to become real. After Visser's departure, the band presented its first two self-produced albums, Son Of Darkness in 1995 and Battle Of Metal in 1997. This allows them to secure a contract with B.O. Records for the release of Bound By Metal in 1999, sometimes considered as the first official album (the two previous ones, few distributed, were never reissued). In 2001, the band signed with Music Limb Productions and released Head Of The Deceiver before filming with Paul Di'Anno , Edguy and Paragon , and then on the concept album Odin in 2003. In 2004, guitarist Michael Maaß moved away temporarily and was replaced by Dano Boland, whose first studio contribution was Magic Circle in 2005. In 2006, Wizard left LMP for Massacre Records. Goochan (2007) is the last recording in quartet. Indeed, upon the return of Maaß, it is decided to retain the two guitarists. Thor , in 2009, is the second opus focused on Nordic mythology, while his successor, ...Of Wariwulfs And Bluotvarwes (2011) is written in collaboration with German author André Wiesler. In 2013, the band released its tenth album, Trail Of Death. At the beginning of the tour, Volker Leson was forced to leave for health reasons; It is replaced by Arndt Ratering (ex- No Inner Limits). Then Wizard spent most of 2014 celebrating his twenty-fifth anniversary, including organizing his own festival. The composition of new titles starts in 2015, but it takes June 2017 to see Fallen Kings' release.
