Biography

Worship was formed in 1998 in Munich (Germany), the result of the meeting between Frenchman Max Varnier, depressive, misanthropist and suicidal (or "Fucked Up Mad Max", drums / singing) and Germanman Daniel Pharos, passionate about slow music (or "The Doommonger", guitars). A first demo entitled Last Tape Before Doomsday was released on Varnier's label, Impaler of Trendies. It shows a band playing a Funeral Doom utra slow and totally desperate, which will make its small effect in the European underground. In 2000 a split with the Grind Agathocles group was created, an initiative that was unprecedented as the two bands differed from a musical point of view. But Max, unable to continue, succumbs to his impulses and throws himself from the top of a bridge in 2001, instantly ending the adventure. The latter's family will also burn almost all of the group's productions, in her opinion responsible for Varnier's suicide. The following year, the demo was reissued by Painac Records in vinyl format and was renamed Last Vinyl Before Doomsday . In 2002, two posthumous splits emerged, with Stabat Mater and Mournful Congregation respectively. The band seems to be dead, but in 2004 Daniel announced the rebirth of Worship in honor of Max, and welcomed Kuolema (bass / drums) and Martin Tapparo (or "Satachrist", guitar), Daniel taking in hand the song. At first, the resurrection takes the form of a new reissue of the demo in CD format, renamed Last CD Before Doomsday and enhanced by an additional track, Keep on Selling Cocoine to Angels, taken from the split with Agathocles. It was in 2005 that this renewed activity was confirmed with the release of a new split, in the company of Loss . Since 2006 Daniel has planned the release of a new album entitled Dooom, which should be released around the end of 2007 / early 2008.
