Wovenhand
Biography
The hiatus, since 2001, of his previous band, 16 Horsepower , gave wings to David Eugene Edwards, who released his first album, Woven Hand , the following year. Edwards, a mystical guitarist in search of the Sacred, then surrounded himself with Ordy Garrison (Battery), Daniel McMahon (Multi-instruments) and Paul Fonfara (Violoncella) for his first tour under the name of his new project. A mix of haunted folk, alternative country and psychedelic gospel, Wovenhand's music has as its recurring theme Christendom, sung in a theatre atmosphere that is not without reminiscent, sometimes, of Nick Drake's first albums. After Consider The Birds in 2004, Mosaic dedicated the group in 2006, thanks to a critical and very favourable public reception. Wovenhand was driven by the charismatic personality of David Eugene Edwards and became a full-fledged band on Ten Stones in 2008 with the arrival of bassist Pascal Humbert ( 16 Horsepower), where each member, not just his frontman, contributed to the writing of the record. The Threshingfloor released in 2010, allows the combo to perform on the prestigious Roadburn stage in 2011 and open for Tool . In 2012, Pascal stopped the project and Edwards then surrounded Chuck French (Guitare, ex-Planes Mistaken For Stars) and Gregory Garcia (Basse) for the release of The Laughing Stalk in 2012. In 2013, Neil Keener (ex-Planes Mistaken For Stars) replaced Gregory and Wovenhand recorded Refractory Obdurate, released in 2014 at Deathwish and Gliterhouse Records. This confirms the band's desire to push its music towards more electric sounds. A trend confirmed by the release in 2016 of Star Treatment at Sargent House.
