Biography

Yakuza was formed in 1999 in Chicago. The group consists of James Staffel (battery/percussions/claviers), Matt McClelland (guitar/song), Jackson (bass), and Bruce Lamont (chant/saxophone/clarinette). As well inspired by metal as jazz, progressive rock, world music, hardcore and grind, Yakuza gave birth in 2000 to her first album, Amount To Nothing. Two years later, the Americans handed over the cover to Century Media with Way Of The Dead, their second album, allowing them to share the stage with Opeth, Isis, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Mastodon, but also Sonic Youth, Melt Banana, or jazzman Ken Vandermark. For their third album, Matt Bayles (Botch , Mastodon , Isis ) is chosen to perform, and Samsara will finally release in spring 2006 at Prosthetic Records ( Kylesa , Lamb Of God , Himsa ...).
