Biography

Yann Tiersen, a multi-instrumentalist, evolves very quickly in the artistic circles of cinema and theatre. His first album, La Valse des monsters (1995), includes part of his work composed in his early years. Very early, the cinema is inspired by its pieces, Rue des cascades, for example, in La Vie dreame des anges. It was in 1998 that he made himself known to the general public, thanks to the title Monochrome sung with Dominique A. His hexagonal tour, and his apogee at the Transmusicales de Rennes, will bring him a first critical recognition. The second turning point in Yann Tiersen's career took place in 2001, with the release of L'Absente and the BO of the film by Jeunet Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, alternating piano and violin, which sold more than 700,000 copies and won the Victoires de la Musique de la meilleur BO de film the same year. His plays for cinema will then lead him to compose the melodies of Good Bye Lenin! (2003) and Tabarly (2008). Not hesitating to draw from his guests the energy necessary for his rock rivets, the exits of Tiersen saw Shannon Wright (on the occasion of a shared CD), Bertrand Cantat , Dominique A , Miossec , Elizabeth Frazer (Cocteau Twins ), Matt Elliott and Syd Matter s , among others. The latter two will be among the 16 musicians present at La Route du Rock in 2010 to present the latest album of Breton, Dust Lane .
