Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Biography
American trio formed in 2000, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs seem to handle with second degree everything they create. Under the impulse of the very energetic Karen O and her almost barking vocals, the combo initially distills a very acidic rock garage strongly inspired by the new wave. Fever to Tell , released in 2003, immediately met with a great success (more than 750,000 copies sold worldwide) which pushed the band to edit a live DVD in the wake, a video reflection of the band's crazy performances on stage.
It will take three more years for the band's second album, Show Your Bones, to be heard. The style is less crude, more catchy and easy listening but the efficiency of the riffs and the eccentricity of the singer continue to seduce the audience and attract new fans. The releases - EP, DVD - are regular and, in 2009, release It's Blitz , an ever more sophisticated exploration of their musical universe where guitars now make room for keyboards in the 80s sound.
In addition to their activity within the band, the various members have participated in some external projects: guitarist Nick Zinner plays in Head Wound City, a thrash metal band with members of The Locust; He also shot with Bright Eyes folky. Karen O makes an appearance on the soundtrack of I'm Not There, Todd Haynes' film about Bob Dylan and should also play on the BO of the next Spike Jonze.
