Year Of The Knife
Biography
Year Of The Knife (whose name seems to be a reference to the song of Tears For Fears) formed at Delaware in 2015 around a recomposed family hard core. Apart from singer Tyler Mullen, there are the twins Aaron and Andrew Kisielewski (guitar and drums) and the spouses Brandon and Madison Watkins (guitar and bass). These members thus met consider the group as a means of maintaining control of their situation in the face of the difficulties of life, in particular the loss of relatives due to addiction (drugs among others). The quintet defines itself as "straight edge" and sees Hardcore as a beacon of emancipation from our anxieties. Year Of The Knife releases its first eps (Overgrowth , Ultimate Disease and First State Aggression ) in self-production between 2016 and 2018, then compiles the set in 2019 on Ultimate Aggression while the quintet signs at Pure Noise Records. In keeping with the new wave of the US Hardcore (with Jesus Piece, Knocked Loose, Varials, Harm's Way ...), the band is very influenced by Death Metal and Grindcore and is therefore moving towards a display of extreme violence not too far from Nails or Gaza. Without a surprise Year Of The Knife records his first album Internal Incarceration with Kurt Ballou ( Converge) at Salem's Godcity studio and releases the object in 2020 still at Pure Noise Records.
