A thrash metal band from Chicago, Illinois, Zoetrope formed in 1976 around Barry Stern (song, drums), Kevin Michael Rasofsky (guitar) and Calvin Humphrey (bass), soon joined by a second guitarist, Ken Black. The first single was released in 1980. Following several demos, the band was signed by Combat Records and recorded its first lp, Amnesty, in 1985. His successor, A Life of Crime produced by Randy Burns ( Megadeth , Nuclear Assault ), was born in 1987. During the recording session, Ken Black left the band and returned to Chicago to solve his various addiction problems. He was replaced by Louis Svitek (Mind Funk , Ministry , Pigface ...). During the following tour, the latter was recruited by MOD . 1988 marks a turning point in the life of the group now relocated to Los Angeles. Barry Stern leaves Zoetrope for Trouble. The latest album, Mind Over Splatter , was released in 1993 without an original member.
