Biography
Nika Roza Danilova aka Zola Jesus is an American singer, composer of Russian origin, who plays in a register ranging from ambient to indus, and is signed by Sacred Bones Records. July 2009 while she is still a student, she releases her first album, which she records in her apartment, her parents will find the poor sound quality and will push her to go to studio in the future, will follow in the same year a first EP titled Tsar Bomba and a Split with Burial Hex, for the needs of live performances she will recruit various musicians but without real stability, the line-up evolving in the wind. In 2010 after a collaboration with Former ghosts (with Jamie Stewart by Xiu Xiu), Zola Jesus returned with Stridulum , an EP inspired by the eponymous film by Giulio Paradisi (1979), which she considered a pivotal in her discography since she thought she had found at this time the right compromise between melody and experimentation, six tracks of the maxi will be taken for her second studio album soberly named Stridulum II , from which will be extracted three of the other four tracks in order to contribute to the tracklist of the EP Valusia that will be released in the wake. A year later, Danilova came out Conatus his third mischief, which was entirely composed this time of new works, the lady's style evolves, both in composition and in production, the result is more "pop" than in the past but does not diminish in any way the strong personality of her music.
